Founded in 1975, Jack Wanderman has devoted his life to buying and selling antiques and working with clients regionally. Over the years, he’s studied extensively and developed considerable expertise in valuing antiques, as well as buying and selling fine furniture, collectibles, rugs, glassware, fine art and vintage clothing. In addition, he’s researched the value and handled the consignment of items worth at as much as $70,000 or as small as a few hundred dollars.
For more than 25 years Jack operated a chain of vintage clothing and collectibles stores with locations in Rochester and Ithaca. From 2000-2004, he worked full time with locally renowned antiques expert the late Ed Cornwall, where he assisted with appraisals, researching and pricing. His relationship with Ed spanned several decades where he developed considerable expertise.
Earlier in his career, Jack worked for master antiques restoration expert the late Carl Mueller, where he learned the fine points of furniture restoration, cleaning and gold leafing. Jack brings particular interest and expertise in Oriental antiques, having studied Japanese language and culture at University of Rochester, and skill translating Japanese and Chinese characters.
Experience gained over thousands of appraisals is our most important credential, but in addition Jack Wanderman has liquidated the contents of many fine homes in and around Rochester. Jack also
- Serves as a panel member of WXXI’s College of Collectible Knowledge
- Participates on WHAM 13’s Trash and Treasures program.
- Donates appraisals to various local historical societies.
